Low Iron? Don't rush the supplements!
🩸 Low Iron? Don't rush the supplements!
Iron deficiency is not always just a "lack of intake". Often this is the result of deeper disturbances in the body:
🔍 1. Infections and pathogens
Candida, H. pylori, E. coli - they love iron. Supplements feed them extra!
🧬 2. Liver function
The liver synthesizes hepcidin, a hormone that regulates iron. In case of dysfunction, it is "locked" in the cells.
🥼 3. Low stomach acidity
Iron is released with stomach acid. With a deficiency of HCl (stress, infections), absorption suffers.
🩸 4. Estrogen dominance
Excess estrogen + poor detoxification = heavy menstruation and monthly iron loss.
🧪 5. Low ferritin, normal iron?
Ferritin stores iron. A conversion problem may indicate biotin deficiency or enzyme disturbances.
⚠️ Iron is a double-edged sword – deficiency affects the thyroid gland and mitochondria, excess causes oxidative stress and liver damage.
👉 So always ask: "Why is it low?" before you reach for the add-ons!
